Social protection for employees posted abroad

Daily allowances may be paid by the French health insurance fund provided that you inform the foreign fund of your work stoppage within 3 days of the start of the stoppage.

If you are posted to a country that is not a member of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland

Medical or hospital care is reimbursed by the social security body of the country of secondment in most countries that have signed an agreement with France and by the French health insurance fund in other cases.


In the event of a work stoppage, daily allowances may be paid by your French health insurance fund, to which you must send a notice of work stoppage within 48 hours of the start of the stoppage (3 days in the event of secondment to Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jersey, Macedonia or Tunisia).
